George W. Nickel, III

George W. Nickel, III is no longer a member of the Commission. The biography supplied below dates from his or her Commission membership.


George W. Nickel, III George (Wiley) Nickel III was appointed to the Commission by the Senate Rules Committee on January 31, 2007 to represent the general public. He resigned on September 20, 2009 due to work on President Barack Obama's administration. His term would have expired on December 31, 2011.

Mr. Nickel is a rancher and attorney from Dos Palos. Like the Central Valley, Wiley's roots are deep in agriculture. Wiley grew up on a local farm. His family's love of agriculture traces back to his great-great-great grandfather Henry Miller who began farming in the San Joaquin Valley over 150 years ago. A graduate of Tulane University and Pepperdine Law School, Mr. Nickel views public service as a way to serve his community. He is married to Caroline Edwards.
