Dr. Stanley Chodorow is currently Vice President for Academic Affairs of Questia Media Inc. and Professor Emeritus at the University of California, San Diego, where he teaches history. He was the founding Chief Executive Officer of the California Virtual University, a consortium of accredited colleges and universities in California that offer distance learning programs. Prior to his appointment to lead the CVU, Dr. Chodorow was Provost of the University of Pennsylvania from 1994 to 1997. From 1968 to 1994, he was a faculty member and administrator at the University of California, San Diego. From 1983 to 1994, he served UCSD as Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Planning and Dean of Arts and Humanities.
Dr. Chodorow chairs the Board of Directors of the Council on Library and Information Resources in Washington, D.C. and the Board of the Center for Research Libraries. He received his B.A. (1964) and Ph.D. (1968) from Cornell University. He also studied law as a postgraduate fellow at the Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California, Berkeley. He is a medieval historian specializing in the history of the western legal systems, constitutional ideas and institutions, and political thought.
