Area_Type_Code Character (Unicode) 1 2 No Code identifying the area type; that is, whether the school is located in an urban, suburban, or rural setting.
Area_Type_Desc Character (Unicode) 8 16 No The area type of a school; that is, whether the school is located in an urban, suburban, or rural setting.

Region_code Character (ASCII) 1 1 Yes Code identifying the Commission-defined region.
Region_name Character (Unicode) 24 48 Yes The Commission-defined region.
County_Code Character (ASCII) 2 2 No Code identifying the California county.
County_Name Character (ASCII) 50 50 Yes The California county.
FIPS_Code Character (ASCII) 3 3 Yes Code created by Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) to identify a county.
Milepost Character (ASCII) 3 3 Yes Code used by the California Department of Transportation to identify a county.
Latitude Numeric 7 5 Yes The latitude of the centroid of a location or area.
Longitude Numeric 7 5 Yes The longitude of the centroid of a location or area.
Old_Region_Code Character (ASCII) 2 2 Yes Code identifying the Commission-defined region used prior to 2003.
Old_Region_Title Character (ASCII) 25 25 Yes The Commission-defined region used prior to 2003.
CDE_Region_Code Character (ASCII) 2 2 Yes Code used in California Department of Education data to identify a region.
CDE_Region_Name Character (ASCII) 20 20 Yes The name of the region used by the California Department of Education.
Center_Lat Character (ASCII) 10 10 Yes Latitude Centroid of the map area.
Center_Lng Character (ASCII) 10 10 Yes Longitude Centroid of the map area.
SW_Lat Character (ASCII) 10 10 Yes South West Latitude of the map area. Used to determine the zoom leve of the map.
SW_Lng Character (ASCII) 10 10 Yes South West Longitude of the map area. Used to determine the zoom leve of the map.
NE_Lat Character (ASCII) 10 10 Yes North East Latitude of the map area. Used to determine the zoom leve of the map.
NE_Lng Character (ASCII) 10 10 Yes North East Longitude of the map area. Used to determine the zoom leve of the map.
County_Color Character (ASCII) 8 8 Yes Defines the color attribute of the county when displayed on a google map.
num_Levels Character (ASCII) 2 2 Yes The number of GROUPS of zoom levels used by the encoded polyline (and polygon) level to specify the precision level.
Zoom_Factor Character (ASCII) 1 1 Yes Approximate magnification between different level groups.
Levels Character (ASCII) 100 100 Yes The precision of the encoded polyline (and polygon).
Points Character (ASCII) 1000 1000 Yes Encoded points defining a specified area of a map.

CPEC_State_Code Character (ASCII) 2 2 No Code identifying the state or territory.
IPEDS_State_Code Integer 10 4 Yes Code used by the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) to identify a state or territory.
Residence_Code Bit 1 1 Yes Flag to indicate whether the state or territory is valid as a state of residence; can be NULL.
PostOffice_Abbreviation Character (ASCII) 2 2 Yes The post office abbreviation of a state or territory. This field is also used as a map to get the state name in an address.
FIPS_State_Code Character (ASCII) 2 2 Yes Code created by Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) to identify a state.
CCC_State_Code Character (ASCII) 10 10 Yes Code used by the California Community College system to identify a state or territory.
CSU_State_Code Character (ASCII) 4 4 Yes Code used by the California State University system to identify a state or territory.
UC_State_Code Character (ASCII) 3 3 Yes Code used by the University of California system to identify a state or territory.
OOS_Code Character (ASCII) 6 6 Yes Code used by the California State University system and the University of California system identifying the out-of-state residence of a student.
CPEC_OOS_Code Character (ASCII) 6 6 Yes Code identifying the out-of-state residence of a student. This is a modified version of OOS_Code so that it is not accidentally mapped to a school code during data conversion.
State_Name Character (ASCII) 50 50 Yes The name of a state or territory.
OBE_Region Character (ASCII) 1 1 Yes Code identifying the geographic region defined by the U.S. Office of Business Economics.
OBEReg_Description Character (ASCII) 25 25 Yes The geographic region defined by the U.S. Office of Business Economics.
State_Color Character (ASCII) 8 8 Yes Defines the color attribute of the state when displayed on a google map.
State_Comments Character (ASCII) 255 255 Yes A comment field used by Commission staff to document changes to state table over the years.
