Reproduce Pre-Configured Report
Follow these instructions to replicate the pre-configured reports located throughout the website.
For all of the various reports, change or select only the options listed. All of the other
aggregations and filters can be ignored. For some reports, the data will need to be manipulated
after the full report has been generated. For example, the college-going rates exclude students
with unknown genders and ethnicities. To match the numbers on the pre-configured page, these
data must be deleted from the results. Square brackets, , around an option or title indicates that
it is a placeholder for a selection or input.
These instructions assume that you have some familiarity with how the Custom Data Report
System works and some experience using a spreadsheet program such as Microsoft Excel
or a database program such as Microsoft Access to manipulate the downloaded data.

To generate the College-Going Rates by County from Public Schools to California State University
Start at the Custom Data Reports,
Select "Higher Education Enrollment" from the list under "Select a Data Report".
Mark the radio button in front of "Freshmen at Public Institutions / College Going Counts" and hit the Enter key or
click on "Select Final Options" at the bottom of the page.
Under "Aggregate (Group) Data By", modify the following options:
Under "The Student's":
Mark the checkbox in front of "Ethnicity".
Mark the checkbox in front of "Gender".
Under "The High School's":
Mark the checkbox in front of "County".
Adjust the following filters:
Under "Include only Students at Current (Receiving) Colleges or Universities that match the following criteria", change the following options:
Select "California State University" from the drop-down list.
Under "Include only Students from High Schools that match the following criteria", change the following options:
Type "not unknown" in the form (without the quotes).
Mark the radio button in front of "Include Only High Schools that Sent Students to Colleges Defined Above" for "Filter By College".
Select "All Known Counties" from the drop-down list.
Select "Any Public School" from the drop-down list.
Under "High School Graduates and A-G Completions", change the following options:
Mark the radio button in front of "Only Public Schools in California" for "Graduates From".
Click on "Generate Report" at the bottom of the page. A new window will open with the results.
Special Instructions / Notes
Select "Don't Crosstab Downloaded Data" and download the data.
Delete rows of data where the gender is "Unknown". (This can be done when you create a cross-tab of the data in most applications by applying a filter.)
Delete rows of data where the ethnicity is not specific: "No Response", "Non-Resident Alien", and "Other". (This can be done when you create a cross-tab of the data in most applications by applying a filter.)
Create a cross-tab or pivot table of the data:
Columns: "Higher Education System"
