Reproduce Pre-Configured Report
Follow these instructions to replicate the pre-configured reports located throughout the website.
For all of the various reports, change or select only the options listed. All of the other
aggregations and filters can be ignored. For some reports, the data will need to be manipulated
after the full report has been generated. For example, the college-going rates exclude students
with unknown genders and ethnicities. To match the numbers on the pre-configured page, these
data must be deleted from the results. Square brackets, , around an option or title indicates that
it is a placeholder for a selection or input.
These instructions assume that you have some familiarity with how the Custom Data Report
System works and some experience using a spreadsheet program such as Microsoft Excel
or a database program such as Microsoft Access to manipulate the downloaded data.

To generate the Freshmen Pathway Charts - [High School District] to California Public Colleges and Universities
Start at the Custom Data Reports,
Select "Higher Education Enrollment" from the list under "Select a Data Report".
Mark the radio button in front of "Freshmen at Public Institutions / College Going Counts" and hit the Enter key or
click on "Select Final Options" at the bottom of the page.
Under "Time Frame for Data", change the following options:
Select "Last 5 Years" from the drop-down list.
Under "Aggregate (Group) Data By", modify the following options:
Under "The Current Institution's":
Mark the checkbox in front of "Institution Name".
Adjust the following filters:
Under "Include only Students from High Schools that match the following criteria", change the following options:
Type "[One or Two Words from the Name]" in the form (without the quotes).
Under "High School Graduates and A-G Completions", change the following options:
Mark the radio button in front of "Do Not Include" for "Graduates From".
Click on "Generate Report" at the bottom of the page. A new window will open with the results.
Special Instructions / Notes
The location of this report is actually the main page for the Freshmen Pathways. This data can be found by searching for a high school district and clicking on the name in the results.
The Freshmen Pathways report includes 15 years. Download the data then change the years to Years 6-10, then Years 11/15. Combine the data using a spreadsheet or database program.
When entering the [One or Two Words from the Name] choose something that is fairly unique to the school. The "official" name may be structured differently from the commonly-used name. For example, search for "Jefferson" instead of "Thomas Jefferson High School". Your results may have more schools than you want. You can re-run the report with the "official" name of the school, enclosed in quotes, once you have it.
