Transfer -- Select Primary Aggregation

The Commission's Custom Data Data Reports provide the number of students transferring in the state, in a region or county, in a particular segment (system) or in a particular institution for a single year or pre-defined 5 and 10 year spans. Breakdown by ethnicity is available for all reports and gender is available in most cases. Most of the reports provide additional aggregation (grouping) as discussed in the descriptions below.

Statewide numbers for the most recent year can be generated by leaving all options set to their default value and generating the report.

Important Notes Important Notes:

The year in the data refers to different time frames depending on the data:

  • Unless otherwise specified, all enrollment, full-time equivalent enrollment, and transfer numbers are Fall-term data.
  • For enrollment, full-time equivalent enrollment, and Fall-term transfer numbers, the data is for the Fall term of the year shown. (e.g. 2000 refers to Fall 2000 data)
  • For full-year transfer numbers, the data is for the academic year ending in the year shown. (e.g. 2000 refers to Academic Year 1999-2000 data)
  • For high school graduation, K-12 enrollment, and degree and completion numbers, the data is for the academic year ending in the year shown. (e.g. 2000 refers to Academic Year 1999-2000 data)
Instructions First-Time Users: Instructions are available on how to use this system.

Primary Aggregations Available

 Fall-Term Transfers to Public Institutions
Generate the number of students who transfer from community colleges to four-year universities. Additional aggregation is available for student level, full / part-time status and credit / non credit load. IMPORTANT NOTE: The Type of Source Schools option is set to include only transfer students from community colleges. Leave it at the default setting unless you want to view intra-segment transfers or transfers between CSU and UC.

Examples:
• Total number of students state-wide who transferred to University of California.
• Number of students who transferred from Citrus College in 1997.

 Full-Year Transfers to Public Institutions
Full-Year transfer data only include public community colleges as the source institution. IMPORTANT NOTE: Gender IS NOT available as an aggregation option.

Examples:
• Total number of students state-wide who transferred to University of California in an academic year.
• Number of students who transferred from Sacramento City College.

 Fall-Term Transfers to Private Institutions
Similar to the Fall-Term Transfers to PUBLIC Institutions, this report will generate the number of students who transfer from community colleges to four-year PRIVATE colleges and universities that are member of the Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities (AICCU). These numbers are part of a voluntary data collection and subject to the participation of the private higher education institution which varies from year to year. Of the 75 institutions currently being contacted for this survey, as few as 24 (in 2002) and as many as 49 (in 2000) have responded and supplied data. Some institutions have responded only once and none have supplied data for all academic years. A list of the institutions being surveyed and the years that they responded is detailed on the Private Reporting page. Additional aggregation is available for student level and school type. IMPORTANT NOTE: The Type of Source Schools option is set to include only transfer students from community colleges. For most reports, leave it at the default setting. Some of the School Type options are only available for the earliest years.

Examples:
• Total number of students who transferred from Community Colleges to Private institutions.
• Number who transferred from a Community College in LA to the University of La Verne.

Fall-Term Transfers to Public Institutions by Discipline / Instructional Program
Fall-Term Transfers by Program shows the number of students that transferred and are enrolled in a particular program (discipline). You can get counts of students in a general category, e.g. Physical Sciences down to a specific program, e. g. Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Additional aggregations include student level, full / part-time status and credit / non credit load. This report generates data for students transferring to UC and CSU ONLY.

Examples:
• Total number of students who transferred into Engineering programs at UCLA.
• Statewide number who transferred into Chemistry programs.
