Report 05-3: An Update of the Commission’s Community College Enrollment Demand Projections by Region
Published by The California Postsecondary Education Commission
March 2005View Full PublicationIn response to enrollment demand at the California Community Colleges, the Commission has approved five proposals since 2000 to create new community college campuses and off-campus centers. Among the significant findings of this updated report are the following:
- Based on current space and utilization standards, the community college sys- tem might need to expand its physical capacity by as much as 50 percent by year 2013 in order to fully meet enrollment demand;
- Although public support for community college capital outlay projects remains high at present, the Commission encourages the system to explore creative mechanisms to expand access in the absence of brick and mortar.
