This report summarizes the key points of a recent report by the Legislative Analyst’s Office examining coordination of higher education in California. The Commission agrees with many of the Analyst’s points about the need to improve the ways California coordinates its vast array of public and nonpublic institutions. The Commission believes that it can help policymakers shape a public agenda for higher education through its analytic, advocacy, and evaluative roles. This combination of functions strengthens the Commission’s ability to recommend policies that improve higher education’s contributions to California’s future and growth.
