Report 93-17: Faculty Salaries in California's Community Colleges, 1992-93: A Report to the Legislature and the Governor in Response to Supplemental Report Language for the 1979 Budget Act

This is the Commission's 1993 document in its series of annual reports on faculty salaries in the California Community Colleges that it has produced for transmission to the Governor and the Legislature since 1979. In the report, the Commission indicates that faculty cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) in the current 1992-93 year will probably average less than 1 percent statewide and that the mean salary for full-time faculty throughout the system -- currently projected to be $49,891, based on incomplete data -- will change very little from 1991-92. The report contains nine displays -- plus several additional ones in the appendix -- that show district-by-district salaries and cost-of-living adjustments, the number of faculty in each district, differences between high- and low-paying districts, compensation for part-time faculty, and samples of typical community college salary schedules. Following historical tradition, the report contains neither conclusions nor recommendations, since it is intended only to provide specific information on faculty compensation in the two-year system. The Commission adopted the report at its meeting on September 13, 1993, on recommendation of it Fiscal Policy and Analysis Committee.
