Updates and known problems in the data available on the website are further documented in the Caveats.

January 29, 2010 - College-Going Rate Graphs for Legislative Districts
Like the college-going rates for counties the trend of college-going rates for legislative districts over time has been updated using the Google Chart API. The rates for men, women, and all students are displayed on the same graph.

January 25, 2010 - College-Going Rate Graphs for Counties
The graphs displaying the college-going rates over time have been updated using the Google Chart API. The rates for men, women, and all students are displayed on the same graph. Other options, such as the student's ethnicity, are available from the Trend Options page.

January 13, 2010 - Resident Undergraduate Fees Graphs
The Google Chart API has been incorporated into the displays of resident undergraduate fees. It is now possible to select one or all of the fees paid by California residents at the public colleges and universities to be displayed on one graph. The graphs are available from the Resident Undergraduate Fees Options page.

January 13, 2010 - Snapshots of Undergraduate and Graduate Enrollment by Ethnicity for UC and CSU Campuses
Two new snapshots were added to show undergraduate and graduate campus enrollment by ethnicity for the most recent year at the following segments:
  • UC Campus Enrollment by Ethnicity - Most Recent Year
  • CSU Campus Enrollment by Ethnicity - Most Recent Year
For example, click on UC Campus Enrollment by Ethnicity to see the new snapshots of the number of undergraduate and graduate students aggregated by ethnicity. Totals are included for each campus and system totals for each ethnicity.

January 11, 2010 - Budget Data Updated
The graphs comparing the budget for higher education to the budgets for K-12 education and corrections have been updated to include the proposals from the Governor's budget. The graphs are available from the Fees and Funding menu.

December 16, 2009 - Postsecondary Education Budget Comparison Graphs
Again, using the Google Chart API, two new graphs are available comparing the budget for higher education to the budgets for K-12 education and corrections. The first graph compares the actual budget; the second compares the share of the total general fund budget. The graphs are available from the Fees and Funding menu.

December 15, 2009 - Updated County Economic Data
The U.S. Census Bureau released data showing the Median Household Income and the percent of population in poverty for counties. The data is available from California County Comparison menu.

December 10, 2009 - Postsecondary Education Funding Graphs
Taking advantage of the Google Chart API, the graphs of the funding for postsecondary education have been updated. Now the general purpose funding and fees are on the same graph for each of the segments. Two new graphs show a comparison among the systems of resident student fee revenue and general purpose funds. The graphs are available from the Public Higher Education Funding Options menu.

December 8, 2009 - CSU Full-Year Transfer Data
Data on full-year transfers to campuses of the California State University for the 2008-09 academic year are now available from the Transfer Pathways and the Custom Data Reports pages.

December 1, 2009 - Graphs
Student data in the college guide is displayed graphically using Google Charts. Click "Students" tab when viewing a college.

October 20, 2009 - Campus Enrollment by Ethnicity for public and WASC institutions
Four new data pages in Student Snapshots shows campus enrollment by ethnicity for the most recent year at the following segments:
  • UC Campus Enrollment by Ethnicity - Most recent year
  • CSU Campus Enrollment by Ethnicity - Most recent year
  • Community College Campus Enrollment by Ethnicity - Most recent year
  • Independent (WASC) Campus Enrollment by Ethnicity - Most recent year
For example, Click on Community College Campus Enrollment by Ethnicity to see the number of students aggregated by ethnicity. Totals are included for each campus and system totals for each ethnicity. Note the year for private, independent institutions could be different that public institutions because the data collection occurs at different times of the year.

October 15, 2009 - 2008 Private High School Graduation Data
2008 Graduation data for California's private high schools are now available. These data are used to generate the Freshmen at Public Institutions/College-Going Counts report in Custom Data Reports. With the availability of the 2008 private high school graduation data, the year option for the Freshmen at Public Institutions/College-Going Counts and other selected reports will default to the Most Recent Complete Year (2008). See Where to Find Data for other locations and uses of these data.

October 15, 2009 - Trend Graph of Economic Data
Using the Google Chart API, a graph is now available showing a comparison of various economic data over time for a particular county, the state, and the nation. For now, this page is available from the graph pages on the California County Comparison menu and from the detailed tables linked from each individual graph. This page will be made available from other pages in the future and we will be using this graphing method to highlight other data on our website. For an example, see Median Household Income for Trinity County.

October 15, 2009 - Updated Higher Ed Map
Added drop down menu to Higher Ed Map. This allows users to map any school system and their corresponding schools from one page.

September 29, 2009 - More Updated Economic Data
The U.S. Census Bureau released the data showing the percent of the population below the federal poverty level in 2008. These data are now available from the 50 State Comparison menu.

September 24, 2009 - Full-Year Transfers to University of California
Data on full-year transfers to campuses of the University of California for the 2008-09 academic year are now available from the Transfer Pathways and the Custom Data Reports pages. In the Custom Data Reports, the default year will not include this data yet. Select 2009 from the Academic Year drop-down list.

September 24, 2009 - Graduation Rates for Public Systems
The Graduation Rates page has been expanded to show the 4-year, 5-year, and 6-year graduation rates for University of California and California State University systems aggregated by ethnicity and gender. Graphs showing the trend over time of these data are also available using the links in the aggregated table. Thanks to one of our users for the suggestion.

September 22, 2009 - Updated Economic Data
The latest data from the U.S. Census Bureau showing Median Income by Educational Attainment and the percent of population with high school diplomas, bachelor's degrees and advanced degrees are now available from the California County Comparison and 50 State Comparison menus. The 50 State Comparison of Median Household Income has also been updated.

September 17, 2009 - State Trends for ACT and SAT
The main pages showing the average scores and participation rates for ACT and SAT now link to pages showing the changes in the data over time for each individual state. Click on the name of a state to see the trend.

September 16, 2009 - 2008 Public High School Graduation Data
2008 Graduation data for California's public high schools are now available. These data are used to generate the College-Going Rates and are also used in First-Time Freshmen reports in Custom Data Reports. In the Custom Data Reports, the default year will not include this data yet because 2008 data for First-Time Freshmen for Private Institutions and Private High School Graduates is not yet available. Select 2008 from the Academic Year drop-down list. See Where to Find Data for other locations and uses of these data.

September 10, 2009 - ACT and SAT Average Scores and Participation Rates
The average scores and participation rates for ACT and SAT for the states and the District of Columbia are now available from the 50 State Comparison - Postsecondary Education Data Menu.

August 13, 2009 - High School Characteristics Year Selector
The High School Characteristics section of the website has been expanded to include the ability to select a year and view previous years' data. This addition is in response to a request from user. Thank you for the feedback and for the ideas. Keep them coming.

August 12, 2009 - Links to Conferences and Meetings
Links to current conferences and meetings of interest to the higher education community will now appear on the Commission's Home Page and on the main menu pages just above the Education Links in the left column. This section will appear and disappear as conferences and meetings are scheduled and held.

July 15, 2009 - Graduate and Professional Student Costs
The annual average tuition and fees for Graduate and Professional Students in the United States is now available in the 50 State Comparison section of Quick Data. The data show the increases in costs for both private and public institutions and overall from the 1987-88 academic year through 2007-08.

June 25, 2009 - Graph of Graduation Rate Trend
Graphs showing trend over time of the 4-year, 5-year, and 6-year Graduation Rates for students 1996 through 2001 can be viewed by clicking on the Trend Graph link following the name of the school. To see graphs of the data by ethnicity and gender, start at the detail page for a school by clicking on the name of the school, then click on the ethnicity or gender you wish to see.

June 24, 2009 - Latest Graduation Rates
The latest 4-year, 5-year, and 6-year Graduation Rates for students starting in 2001 are now available. In addition, data for students staring in 1996 through 1999 are also available using links at the bottom of the page. All of these data, aggregated by ethnicity and gender, can be viewed by clicking on the name of a school.

June 5, 2009 - CTE and STEM Aggregations Now Available
An option has been added to the Custom Data Reports system for all reports that include the discipline or instructional program. A radio button under the discipline filter options now allows the selection of disciplines associated with Career Technical Education (CTE) or Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) degrees. For the STEM disciplines, the category such as computer science, life science, engineering, etc. are supplied in addition to any other information selected.

June 4, 2009 - California County Data Updated
The latest statistics released by the Census Bureau for median household income and the percent of the population below federal poverty levels have been posted on the County Fiscal, Economics, and Population page.

June 4, 2009 - 50-State Comparison Data Updated
Data comparing various Economic and Postsecondary Education statistics for the 50 states and the District of Columbia have been updated including the fall and full-time equivalent enrollment, student costs, and government appropriations.

June 4, 2009 - Career Technical Education Degrees in Student Snapshots
A new data page in Student Snapshots shows degrees awarded in Career Technical Education (CTE). Results are aggregated by degree type (Associate, Baccalaureate, etc.). For example, Click on Career Technical Education (CTE) Degrees Awarded at California Public Colleges and Universities to see the degrees by degree type.

June 4, 2009 - STEM Degrees in Student Snapshots
Two new data pages are available in Student Snapshots. The new pages show degrees awarded in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Results can be aggregated by degree type (Associate, Baccalaureate, etc.) or STEM Type (Life Science, Math, etc.). For example, Click on Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) Degrees Awarded at California Public Colleges and Universities to see the degrees by STEM type.

May 8, 2009 - Maps by Higher Education System
Maps of institutions by system are available for viewing. For example, Click on California State University to see all of the campuses. Click on a campus to go to the College Guide.

May 8, 2009 - Changes to CDS Download
The downloaded version of the CDS File, available from the School Code Mapping System, now includes the mailing address fields based on a request from one of our users. Thank you to the one who suggested this. Keep the suggestions coming.

April 28, 2009 - Interstate Migration
A new page has been added showing the number of California First-Time Students attending college or university in other states. Clicking on the name of a state leads to a page showing the number of students from California at each college or university in the state. Clicking on the name of a college or university leads to a page showing the state of residence of all the students.

April 27, 2009 - Data Element Dictionary Updated
The Data Element Dictionary has been updated to include data description, cross-walk, and table description of the state table.

April 21, 2009 - College-going Rate Map by County Enhanced
The interactive College-going rates map of high schools in any county has been updated to provide better performance for large counties and more information when the user clicks on the school marker.

April 16, 2009 - Public Records Guide
The old pdf version of the Public Records Guide has been replaced with an updated webpage version.

April 8, 2009 - College-going Rate Map by County
A new page has been added showing an interactive map of College-going rates of high schools in any county.

April 2, 2009 - Google News Added to Home Page
The Commission's home page now includes a Google News slideshow displaying search results for the Commission and other postsecondary education news in California.

March 26, 2009 - Graduation Rates by Gender and Ethnicity
The names of the colleges and universities on the Graduation Rates page now link to a detailed page that breaks down the data by ethnicity and gender.

March 25, 2009 - Graduation Rates
A new page has been added showing the Graduation Rates for the 2001 freshmen class at 4-year colleges and universities.

March 23, 2009 - New Columns Added to County-District-School (CDS) File
Two new columns were added to the County-District-School (CDS) File. Congress_Dist displays the House of Representatives District Number for each educational institution. CC_District_Code displays the 5-digit district code of the California Community College District each K-12 school resides in.

March 18, 2009 - Legislative District in Custom Data Reports
The reports in the Custom Data Reports that include public K-12 schools now includes the option to aggregate and filter by California State Assembly, California State Senate, and U.S. Congressional Districts of the K-12 school.

March 18, 2009 - College-Going Rate by Congressional District
The college-going rate for each U.S. Congressional district is now available in both table format and as a graph showing how districts compare. There is also a graph of the trend over time for each district. Both are available from the main College-Going Rates page.

March 17, 2009 - Student Fees Table
The data used in the graphs showing the student fees over time is now available in table format for both Actual Dollars and Constant Dollars for the most recent year for which data is available.

March 17, 2009 - Link to California Economic Recovery Portal Added
The Commission's home page and the main menu pages for each of the navigation tabs now include a link to Recovery.CA.Gov, the California Economic Recovery Portal. This link replaces the link to Application Deadlines which is still accessible from the Guide to California Colleges and Universities.

March 12, 2009 - Changes to Diversity Pages
The options available for Ethnic and Gender Diversity of First-Time Freshmen, Postsecondary Education Students, and Degree Recipients have been changed:
  • An option has been added to compare multiple institutions at the same time. Depending on the number of comparisons selected, up to about fifteen colleges or universities can be selected. With all options selected, up to about five can be selected.
  • The option for comparing an institution to institutions in the same Carnegie classification has been removed. For the most part, all colleges or universities in a system are in the same class, so this option was redundant.

March 2, 2009 - 2008 Unemployment Data
California County Comparison - Fiscal, Economics, and Population has been updated with the latest yearly unemployment data for California and its counties.

March 2, 2009 - New Executive Director Biography
The biography of the new executive director, Karen Humphrey, has been added to the website. The biography for the former director, Murray Haberman, has been deleted.

February 24, 2009 - California Community Colleges Degrees Awarded Data Reprocessed
As a result of a data quality check, the California Community Colleges Degrees Awarded data for the 1993 - 1997 Academic Years has been reprocessed. Please see the Caveats page for more information.

February 23, 2009 - Modification to CDS Download for Registrars
The CDS / School Codes or Cross-Walk Download for College and University registrars has been expanded to include non-traditional high schools.

January 22, 2009 - Freshmen Pathways by High School District
In response to several requests, new options have been added to the Freshmen Pathways. For each of the higher education systems, there is a link to a page showing system-wide freshmen aggregated by high school district. In addition, a search form has been added to allow the user to generate a report showing where students from a district enrolled in college. Thank you to those who gave the suggestion; keep them coming.

January 12, 2009 - Adult Literacy Data
The California County Comparison and the 50 State Comparison pages in the Workforce and Fiscal Data section of the website now include the adult literacy data.

January 8, 2009 - K-12 Data Download Capability Available
The K-12 portions of the Custom Reports System now includes the ability to download the data.

January 7, 2009 - K-12 Data Available in Custom Reports System
The Custom Reports System has been expanded to include access to the K-12 data used by the Commission in various reports. Data available in the new section include graduates for both public and private high schools, enrollment by grade level for public and private primary and secondary schools, and enrollment in advanced science and math classes in public high schools. Data for the private schools do not include gender or ethnicity information. Download capability for these data will be added within the next few days.

January 7, 2009 - K-12 Data Dates Detailed
Along with the availability of the K-12 data in the Custom Reports System, the Custom Data Reports Dates Available has also been expanded to detail the dates of the various data elements used in the K-12 reports. Although all of the data is obtained from the California Department of Education, they are not all released on the same schedule. Data for private schools and for enrollment in advanced math and science classes in public schools usually lags behind the rest of the data.

December 2, 2008 - New Option in Publication Search
The Publication Search now includes the ability to search only the title of documents. The default is still to search all available text for maximum results.

November 25, 2008 - Two K-12 Data Snapshots added to Student Snapshots
K-12 public enrollment by ethnicity and public high school graduates by ethnicity are available in Student Snapshots. Data are shown for all available years. See California Public High School Graduates for an example.

November 25, 2008 - Descriptions of Data Elements
The table descriptions in the Data Element Dictionary now contain descriptions of each of the columns or data elements. See the Supporting Tables for an example.

October 28, 2008 - Three New Options in Trend Analysis
Two sections, with three options between them, have been added to the Trend Analysis system. The first section is a count of destination universities for community college transfers. The destination counts are available for fall-term transfers. The second section contains two options for the high school information used most frequently on the website, high school graduates and a-g completions.

October 28, 2008 - Options Renamed in Trend Analysis
The last third and fourth sections of the Trend Analysis system have been renamed to better reflect what information it offers. The old titles were confusing, even for us.

October 27, 2008 - Additional enrollment data in Student Snapshots
Three new options are available in Student Snapshots. Users can generate enrollment by campus for the most recent five years at a UC, CSU or Community College.

October 20, 2008 - College Major and Career Search
Find colleges that offer a specific major or colleges that offer training for identified occupations. Users can search and select a major or an occupation.

October 17, 2008 - Full-Year Transfer Data for 2007-08
The full-year transfer data for public universities are now available. To get a fully-customized report, visit the transfer section of the Custom Report System and select full-year transfers. For a quick look, visit the Transfer Pathways.

October 16, 2008 - Custom Data Reports Instructional Video
A short open captioned video showing how to generate a custom data report has been added to the Custom Data Reports web page and Custom Data Reports Help web page.

October 6, 2008 - Freshman Pathways Expanded
The Freshmen Pathways report from the perspective of a public high school now includes the number of high school graduates, a-g completions, and the enrollment for that class as high school freshmen and seniors. See John F. Kennedy High in Sacramento for an example.

September 29, 2008 - Full-Time Equivalent Enrollment
A new report is now available from the Enrollment section of the Custom Data Reports system. In addition to the regular enrollment data, which counts each student regardless of how many units he or she has attempted, reports can now be generated for full-time equivalent enrollment, which counts the number of students based on the total number of units attempted by all students. For example, if a full-time student is defined as one taking 15 units, three students taking 10 units each would count as two full-time students (30 units / 15 units per full-time equivalent).

September 26, 2008 - Educational Attainment Data Updated
Data showing the percent of the population who have received a high school diploma, a bachelor's degree, or an advanced degree have been updated from the data recently released by the Census Bureau. The data compares 40 of California's 58 counties or California to the rest of the nation.

September 17, 2008 - New Option in Degrees by Disability Report
The Degrees by Disability in the Degrees Awarded / Completions section of the Custom Data Reports system now has the options to aggregate and filter the data by the discipline or course of study (e.g.: Business/Managerial Economics).

September 16, 2008 - New Degrees Report
A new report is available in the Degrees Awarded / Completions section of the Custom Data Reports system. Users now have the ability to generate a report of degrees awarded to transfer students aggregated by the source community college, degree type, and discipline or course of study (e.g.: Organic Chemistry).

September 15, 2008 - Popular Data Pages on Home Page
The Commission's Home Page has been modified. The calendar of upcoming meetings of the education agencies has been removed and replaced with the most popular data pages.

September 8, 2008 - New Option in Custom Data Report System
A new option has been added to the enrollment reports that include the student level in the Custom Data Reports System. Users may now aggregate by the classification of the student level, undergraduate, graduate, and other, and use these options to filter the data.

September 4, 2008 - Median Income by County Updated
Median income by educational attainment for 2007 is now available from California County Comparison - Fiscal, Economics, and Population. The data includes the 40 counties covered by the data released by the U. S. Census Bureau.

September 4, 2008 - Income and Poverty Data Updated
Median household income, median income by educational attainment, and the percent of the population in poverty for 2007 are now available from 50 State Comparison - Fiscal, Economics, and Population.

September 4, 2008 - SAT Data for 2008 Added
Mean SAT scores and participation rates for the 50 states for 2008 are now available from 50 State Comparison - Postsecondary Education Data.

August 14, 2008 - ACT Data for 2008 Added
Average ACT scores and participation rates for the 50 states for 2008 are now available from 50 State Comparison - Postsecondary Education Data.

August 14, 2008 - County Economic Data Added
Median household income and poverty rate for 2005 and unemployment rate for 2007 are now available from California County Comparison - Fiscal, Economics, and Population.

August 11, 2008 - List of unapproved accreditation agencies deleted
The list of unapproved accreditation agencies was out-of-date. Therefore, it was deleted. Additional links to current federal lists were added to the Accreditation page.

August 1, 2008 - Accountability Supporting Data Redistributed
The information previously found on the Accountability Supporting Data page has been moved to the Fiscal Snapshots and Diversity and Distribution pages.

July 30, 2008 - Workforce Snapshots
Users can find the highest paying, or highest growth, occupation for a degree level in Workforce Snapshots.

July 30, 2008 - Statewide Snapshots Renamed
As part of the restructuring of the data pages, Statewide Snapshots has been renamed to Student Snapshots and some of the choices have moved to a new page called Fiscal Snapshots. Both changes give the Commission more room for future expansion of both pages.

July 29, 2008 - New Data Section
Several data pages have been restructured and moved to a new section called Workforce and Fiscal Data. The data on these pages have been available for a long time, but the pages were buried and hidden. Hopefully, this restructuring will help users to find the information. Over the next few weeks, more of the data pages regarding finances and workforce will be moved here.

July 28, 2008 - "Data Mining" Is Now "Trend Analysis"
The Data Mining pages have been renamed to Trend Analysis to better reflect the purpose of the system.

July 21, 2008 - Additional Crime Statistics Option
A new option has been added to the Crime Statistics Options page. The default now shows the trend of the total for all categories of crimes.

July 16, 2008 - Accountability Tab and Menu Removed
The Accountability tab and menu have been removed as the first step in the plan to revamp the data sections of the website. The Accountability Supporting Data page is still available in the Quick Data menu.

June 26, 2008 - Decrease in Enrollments and Degrees Awarded for State-Approved Institutions
It was recently brought to CPEC's attention that the numbers for enrollments and degrees awarded for the University of Phoenix' online campus are NATIONAL numbers. CPEC focuses primarily on CALIFORNIA institutions. The online campus' numbers have been removed from the Commission's system, resulting in a significant drop in both enrollments and degrees awarded for State-Approved Institutions.

June 24, 2008 - Links Added to County Detail Pages
Links to the graphs showing the percent of high school graduates, bachelor's degree recipients, and advanced degree recipients in a county have been added to the County Detail page for those counties with available data. See the Contra Costa County page for an example.

May 30, 2008 - Crime Statistics for Individual Campuses
Crime statistics for individual campuses of colleges and universities in California are available from the new Crime Statistics Search.

May 30, 2008 - Crime Statistics
Graphs and tables showing the trend of crime statistics over time for colleges and universities in California has been added to the California Context section of the website. Options are available to display a single county, a region or statewide data.

May 20, 2008 - Website Search Updated
The Website Search that is available at the top of all pages and from the Advanced Search page has been updated to take advantage of changes made on the website. Results now include exact matches from the Index and the Guide to California Colleges and Universities in addition to searching publications, agendas, agenda items, the FAQs, and the Glossary. If the search criteria include the name of a California County or Region, links are provided to the detailed information pages for these areas.

May 8, 2008 - Website Survey
A quick survey has been added to the Commission's home page. Questions will be available for 1 week.

May 8, 2008 - Publication ID Search Box Removed
The search box for the Publication ID has been removed from the Commission's home page and publication search page at the request of upper management. References to the Publication ID have been stripped from the lists of publications.

A search box for the Publication ID has been added to the Commission's home page for easy access.

April 28, 2008 - Publication ID
The Publication ID has been added to the Search page for Commission publications. It is also displayed in the details of publications under the chronological and topical lists.

April 15, 2008 - Change in Year Selection for Data
Data for the various segments of higher education are received over a period of several months. In the past, the Commission waited until all data were available before posting any data to the website because many webpages did not perform properly and caused a great deal of confusion. This year, instead of waiting, several webpages were reprogrammed to work around the issues. Now, pages that display statewide or regional data display the data for the most recent year that is complete. These pages include those available from the Quick Data Menu, and the various College-Going Rate graphs and charts. In the Custom Data Reports, the Time Frame for Data defaults to the "Most Current Complete Year" and displays what that year is. Other, more recent years, are available in the drop-down list. For reports that include private institutions, such as Total Enrollment, the "Most Current Complete Year" may be up to two years behind the most recent data available.

April 14, 2008 - Additional Links in STEPS
Links to California Employment Development Department's Labor Market Info, California Career Zone, and Reality Check have been added to the occupation information in STEPS (School To Employment Pathways System). For an example, see Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering.

April 9, 2008 - College Choices for Local High Schools
A series of data sheets displaying College Choices for high schools in legislative districts is now available. Each data sheet can also be accessed from the legislative district detail pages. See Senate District 2 for an example.

April 4, 2008 - 2007 Improving Teacher Quality Project Abstracts
Abstracts for Improving Teacher Quality projects funded in 2007 are now available.

March 25, 2008 - More California Context Data Updated
Mean scores and the participation rates for the SAT and ACT examinations from the College Board and ACT, Inc., respective, have been loaded into the database. These data are available from the California Context page.

March 24, 2008 - California Context Data Updated
The most recent data from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) for the number of Title IV institutions, government appropriations, degrees awarded, and student costs have been loaded into the database. All of these are available from the California Context page.

March 21, 2008 - Link between Trend and Comparisons of College-Going Rates by Legislative District

March 12, 2008 - School Crosswalk Table: Column Modifications
As of March 12, the format of the Commission's School Crosswalk table has changed.

School ID Column Renamed to Record ID - The School ID column in the School Crosswalk table has been renamed to Record ID. The reason for the change is due in part to confusion created by the School ID name where users were given the impression that the values represent valid school identifiers when in fact the purpose of the column is to represent a unique identifier of a school/institution record. It is not recommended that the Record ID column be used as a means to join tables.

Segment Code and Institution ID Columns Removed - To simplify table joining, the Segment Code and Institution ID columns have been removed from the School Crosswalk table. In their place, the Institution Code column (the concatenation of the Segment Code and Institution ID columns) will serve as the link to join tables.

A new page has been added to the Legislation section of the website to maintain a list of pertinent legislation that affects the Commission. Enacted Legislation includes the enabling legislation from 1973 and AB 1570 which established the Commission's longitudinal data system. Other legislation will be added in the future.

September 5, 2007 - Out-of-State Institutions Available
The College Guide Search now has an option to include out-of-state institutions in the results. Information pages for these schools display the address, phone numbers, websites, programs offered, and degree levels offered. In addition, historically black and tribal colleges are identified along with the religious affiliation when appropriate. As with all information about colleges and universities, this information is offered as a service and inclusion does not constitute or imply a Commission endorsement. Prospective students should thoroughly research all options before selecting any educational course, institution, or program.

Colleges are linked to RateMyProfessors.com in the College Guide. The website RateMyProfessors offers ratings on college and university professors from over 6,000 schools across the United States, Canada, England, Scotland and Wales. College students use the site to help plan their class schedules and rate current and past professors on attributes such as helpfulness and clarity. This differs from the Public High Schools grouping that also includes Public Alternative Schools and Public Continuation High Schools (Grades 9-12).
