Item 4:
The New Federal Tax Credits: How Much Will They Offset Higher Fees?
Staff will present a report examining the new American Opportunity credit, which expands benefits offered by the previous Hope credit. The new credit will benefit a much wider range of families and, for many taxpayers, will offset recent increases in student fees.

Mr. Taylor will discuss state finances and the fiscal challenges facing the state and our higher education systems in light of recent funding reductions. The Legislative Analyst is the State Legislature’s non-partisan budget and policy advisor.

Item 7:
Ready or Not, Here They Come: Community College Enrollment Demand Projections, 2009–2019
This is the first in a series of Ready or Not, Here They Come enrollment demand reports that will be developed over the next six months. Community college projections were derived first because the community college system is the largest in the state, accounting for 75% of undergraduate demand. The entire series, once completed, will be helpful to the Governor and Legislature in future budgetary and policy deliberations by providing projections of the demand for public undergraduate higher education and needs for campus lecture and laboratory capacity.
