Max Espinoza

Max Espinoza is the Special Assistant to Speaker Karen Bass at the California State Assembly. He was formerly Chief of the Grant Services Division in the California Student Aid Commission. He served as the Chief of the California Student Aid Commission's Grant Services Division where his responsibilities included high-level policy development, oversight and monitoring of the Commission's state financial aid grant programs. From 2000-04, Espinoza served as the Assembly Budget Committee's Principal Consultant for Higher Education, advising the members of the California State Assembly on budgets for the University of California, California State University, and California Community Colleges and other higher education-related agencies. Espinoza graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1999 with a B.A. in History and Chicano Studies. While at UCLA, he served on the UC Board of Regents as the 24th Student Regent. Upon graduation from UCLA, he worked in Sacramento as a Legislative Aide with then California State Assembly Speaker Antonio Villaraigosa.
