CALIFORNIA POSTSECONDARY EDUCATION COMMISSION

NOTICE OF IMPENDING CLOSURE

Funding for CPEC has been eliminated from the 2011-12 state budget; as a result, the agency will close in fall 2011. The website will move to the Community College Chancellor's Office on Friday, 9/23/2011. It will be down over the weekend. It is not known what sections of the website will be available in the future.

While there are many reasons to obtain a degree, the following charts demonstrate some practical reasons to complete a degree.

The first chart shows the annual median income by level of educational attainment. While the trends are fairly flat that past few years given the state of the economy, income increases as the level of education attainment increases.

The second chart shows unemployment rates by level of educational attainment. Again, the lower the level of educational attainment the higher the level of unemployment, especially in difficult economic times.
